Key Responsibilities:
As a Personal Support Worker at Lakeridge Gardens, you will:
- Assist residents with daily personal care: dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming
- Help residents with mobility, ambulation, and transferring
- Provide meal assistance, including feeding and in-between meal support
- Maintain resident hygiene, including oral care and denture cleaning
- Unpack and store resident belongings; label clothing and personal items
- Escort and orient new residents to their rooms; manage their personal items
- Support activity programs, including transporting residents to scheduled activities
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment and assist with infection control
- Document care activities, maintain records, and report relevant information
- Promote and ensure the safety and comfort of residents at all times
- Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
- Report any injuries or hazards to your immediate supervisor promptly
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
- A valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited Canadian institution
- A minimum of 600 hours of practical experience in a healthcare setting
- Prior experience in long-term or geriatric care (preferred)
- Knowledge of safe work practices and infection control procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong empathy, reliability, and a commitment to high-quality care
- Physical ability to perform essential job duties (lifting, standing, etc.)
- A valid criminal record check (vulnerable sector) issued within the past six months
