Requirements:

• A successful completion of an Interpreter Language Assessment is required to demonstrate knowledge of oral/written language pair competency.
• Competition of a 40-hour medical interpretation training program is mandatory within one year of employment.

The Successful Candidate will be responsible for a diverse array of responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

• Is proactive in responding to requests for language access in a healthcare environment. This encompasses, but is not restricted to, fundamental translation, telephone interpreting, video interpreting, and in-person interpreting.
• Utilizes technology to provide services in a diverse array of modalities as required. As required, resolves fundamental application issues with the consumer and software.
• Maintains relationships with internal consumers and makes critical judgments regarding the selection of appropriate interpreter modalities. Continuously endeavors to minimize expenditures and capitalizes on vendor relationships as required.
• Interprets information concerning the healthcare requirements of the patient and their family. Procedures, emergency encounters, assessments, patient education, appointments, discharge instructions, and scenarios may be included.
• Functions as a conduit for the most precise and succinct interpretation possible, while also taking into account cultural implications and idiomatic language differences.
• Educates caregivers on the comprehension of the patient’s culture in relation to healthcare, thereby serving as a cultural broker.
• Adheres to the healthcare system’s professional conduct standards, executes job responsibilities ethically, and adheres to national practice standards.
• Provides translations of fundamental written material as required and in accordance with departmental policies.
• Functions as a cultural mediator and provides customers with appropriate education.

Physical Requirements

Walking necessitates standing, reclining, lifting, and reaching. A minimum of 10 pounds must be lifted to shoulder height. It is necessary to possess an intact sense of sight and hearing, as well as the ability to communicate in both English and a foreign language in a manner that is simple and comprehensible.
