Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for conducting an appropriate assessment and treatment of patients in a virtual clinic. The successful applicant independently diagnoses conditions, prescribes medications, performs or orders diagnostic testing and treatments, evaluates treatments, and provides follow-up care within the continuum of care. The Nurse Practitioner delivers comprehensive and holistic nursing care to clients, which encompasses the prevention, treatment, and promotion of injuries and ailments.
As an advanced practitioner, the Nurse Practitioner serves as a practitioner, educator, and leader. He/she operates independently in accordance with provincial regulations, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians, on matters that are beyond the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. Report directly to the Director of Client and Clinical Services.
Essential Duties of Registered Nurse Jobs in Canada
- Evaluating the urgency of care required, assessing client presentation, selecting the appropriate level of care, facilitating referrals to other providers when necessary, and determining the need for follow-up care

Qualifications of Registered Nurse Jobs in Canada
- The successful conclusion of a Nurse Practitioner program
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Successful completion of a nursing program that has been accredited
- Membership in the Newfoundland and Labrador Nurse Practitioners Association (NLNPA) is preferable, but it is not necessarily necessary.
- Preferred: a minimum of one year of recent experience as a nurse practitioner. Prior clinical experience will be considered.
- A registered nurse must possess a minimum of two years of experience.
- Demonstration of familiarity with community and home health services
- The presence of Family of All Ages (FAA) is mandatory.
- Experience in rural practice is regarded as a valuable asset.
