The Clinical Dietitian or Lead Dietetic Technician provides support to the Clinical Dietitians by collecting information, reporting observations, and communicating with the patient/client family or caregiver, all under the general supervision of a Senior Dietitian. Acquires information regarding food allergies, preferences, and nutrition/weight histories Adapts culinary choices to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences Monitors menu choices and implements modifications to ensure that they align with prescribed regimens.

Provides education and guidance on food choices and meal planning, as well as conducts meal surveys to monitor food consumption and customer satisfaction. Reports observations to the Clinical Dietitian to aid in the documentation of the response to the nutrition care plan and to facilitate the modification of the nutrition care plan to align with the patient/client’s objectives and achieve the desired results. Executes and supervises nutrition interventions as directed by the Clinical Dietitian

Responsibilities Of Dietetic Technician Jobs in USA 2025

  • Performs nutrition screening in accordance with predetermined criteria.
  • Gathers and evaluates data regarding food and nutrient intake, including current and past diets, meal and refreshment patterns, nutritional supplements, typical foods and beverages, mastic and swallowing difficulties, cultural and religious preferences, and food allergies and intolerances.
  • Collects anthropometric data from medical records or by conducting interviews with patients’ families or caregivers.
  • Visits patients and examines medical records following the receipt of a department nutrition risk notification from the electronic nursing nutrition screen. This is done to verify the risk notification and to document if a high risk is not indicated. Disseminates outcomes through the designated computer system.
  • As directed and designed by the Clinical Dietitian, offers nutrition interventions/plans of care, such as menu correction diet education.
  • Responds to patient inquiries regarding interventions in accordance with the scope of practice.
  • Confirms that the patient’s requirements are being met and that the nutrition intervention/plan of care is being implemented.
  • Supports nutrition evaluation and provides nutrition monitoring through meal rounds, nutrient intake analysis and documentation, and diet reinforcement.
  • Visits patients’ family members and care partners to introduce the menu selection system, evaluate patients’ progress, and discuss their nutritional care plans. Conducts ongoing nutrition assessments and evaluations of the patient and recommends revisions to the plan as the patient’s condition requires.
  • Prepares patients for ongoing care at home by conducting individual and group patient education and nutrition classes.
  • Works in conjunction with Food Service Management to oversee the daily tasks and responsibilities of the Room Service Hosts. Input is provided for performance evaluations and corrective disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Collects menu choice information and guarantees that patients with complex diet mandates receive balanced and appropriate meals by collaborating with the Cbord Room Service Get Well Network or another electronic menu system. Serves as a liaison between the Food & Nutrition Services and the nursing department.
